While a Communication Journal is typically held between two people- often partners or a parent and child- a Family or Group journal would have several contributing.
Whether it’s documenting shared memories or just sharing small individual pieces that come together to form a much bigger picture, this can be a fun activity.
Ultimately it is up to your group or family how you approach a shared journal.
Heck, it can even be funny if you want! Here are a few ideas to try…
writing a story together
Taking turns, each person will add a few sentences, or a few pages. The idea is to build an exciting or interesting story, so try to leave things “open” for the next person.
saying nice things about each other
Parents of siblings will appreciate the value in encouraging children to go on record sharing nice things about their brother or sister. Your words of praise will be just as valuable.
sharing journal prompts
Try the “All About Me” printable prompts/stickers and take turns responding to the same prompt. It will be interesting to see all the different responses to the same prompt!
documenting memories together
This can be more visual- think of it as a smashbook where everyone gets to contribute their pictures and perspective on shared experiences.
